Before he took office, Donald Trump promised that he would crackdown on illegal immigration like no other president had before. Now, he is following through on this promise in a huge way..
Western Journal reported that Trump is now letting famous illegal immigrants know that their fame will not allow them to be above the laws of this country. It has just been reported that Ravidath Ragbir and Jean Montrevil, both prominent figures within the pro-illegal immigration group New Sanctuary Coalition of New York City, were both just deported by Immigration and Customs Enforcement after years of being allowed to stay in the country at the discretion of federal officials. These two were allowed to remain in the United States even though they had both committed serious crimes.
Ragbir had come to the U.S. legally from Trinidad and Tobago in 1991, but he was convicted of wire fraud in 2000. Though he received a deportation order in 2006, he was granted a reprieve by ICE officials in 2011 that extended until this past April. It was then that Ragbir was told his reprieve would not be extended and that he would be deported.
Montrevil had come to the U.S. back in 1986 and had served time on a drug possession charge. He was in the process of appealing a deportation order when he was taken into custody. His lawyer told reporters that his client “believed that he had reached an understanding with ICE officials.”
“It seems really clear to us that this is an escalation of retaliation, not just against individual rights leaders, but against the right of the movement to exist,” said Mary Small, policy director for immigrant rights activist group Detention Watch Network.
We’re glad to see that Trump is sending the message that nobody is above his immigration laws. SHARE this story if you think these two criminals deserved to be deported!
